Ark/Kumbh Vivah
Remedy for Severe Marriage Doshas
When a horoscope indicates severe marital discord, divorce, or the untimely death of a spouse (Vaidhvya Dosh), Ark or Kumbh Vivah is performed before the actual marriage to absorb the curse.
Mangalnath / Mahakal Ujjain

Understanding Ark & Kumbh Vivah
In Vedic astrology, if a person has a strong Manglik Dosh, Vish Kanya Yog, or Vaidhvya Yog, their first marriage is destined to fail or bring tragedy.
To bypass this, a mock marriage is performed. For males, it is called Ark Vivah (marriage with a Mandar/Ark tree). For females, it is called Kumbh Vivah (marriage with an earthen pot representing Lord Vishnu).
When is it Recommended?
Astrologers recommend this when:
- The girl has a combination causing early widowhood.
- The boy has a combination causing the death of his wife.
- Repeated engagements are breaking without reason.
- Both partners have highly mismatched Mangal Dosh.
The Marriage Ritual
The ritual is conducted exactly like a real Hindu wedding.
Step 1: Haldi & Sankalp
Applying turmeric and taking the vow of marriage.
Step 2: Kanyadaan / Vriksh Vivah
The symbolic marriage is performed with the pot or tree.
Step 3: Phere (Circumambulation)
Taking seven rounds around the sacred fire with the symbolic spouse.
Step 4: Visarjan
The pot is immersed in a river, or the connection with the tree is ritually broken, signifying the end of the "first" marriage.
Benefits
- Absorbs the curse of widowhood or divorce.
- Ensures the actual marriage (which becomes the second marriage) is long-lasting and happy.
- Removes all hidden doshas affecting marital bliss.
- Protects the future spouse from health hazards.
